Que son las Termitas Subterraneas?
EWhat are Eastern subterranean termites?

Are Eastern subterranean termites dangerous?
Subterranean termites do not bite, sting, or carry any diseases to humans. However, while they do not harm humans directly, they can cause stress and anxiety as they destroy homes. As they destroy wooden structures, they create hazards as they eat through support beams, destroy electrical wiring, and leave other parts of the home vulnerable to collapse.
Why do I have an Eastern subterranean termite problem?
Termites feed on cellulose, which can be found in wood, leaves, and soil. Typically, termites that get into homes were first attracted to the wood inside the home’s walls and foundations. This species of termite prefers to eat moist or water-damaged wood, so an existing moisture or leakage problem around your home could be all it takes to invite an infestation; however, even structurally-sound properties with no moisture problems can still find themselves with termites. Termite swarms can happen almost anywhere, and if your home or business happens to be nearby, getting an infestation may simply be a case of bad luck.
How do I get rid of Eastern subterranean termites?
Unfortunately, there is no realistic way for the average home or business owner to completely treat their termite problem and keep it from coming back without help from an experienced professional. Termites are notoriously difficult to eliminate and require the use of advanced treatment systems that you can't purchase or apply without a license. Furthermore, fixing the damage they leave behind often requires the help of an experienced carpenter.
In the end, it's best to utilize preventative measures to avoid a termite problem altogether. Though there are effective ways to react to an infestation, they are certainly more challenging than avoiding one in the first place. What are Formosan termites?
Another type of subterranean termite, Formosan termites, are differentiated from Eastern subterranean termites by their longer bodies, shorter heads, and short pincers. Unlike Eastern subterranean termites, which can be found in the majority of states across the nation, Formosan termites are localized to the southern part of the country.
However, while Formosan termites are less widespread than their Eastern subterranean cousins, they make up for it with their voracious appetites. Often referred to as “super-termites”, Formosan termites can and will quickly destroy the walls, floors, and foundations of any business or residence unfortunate enough to have them. Like Eastern subterranean termites, Formosan termite colonies are broken into three castes consisting of workers, soldiers, and reproductives.
Why do I have a Formosan termite problem?
Like Eastern subterranean termites, a Formosan termite infestation is commonly identified by the presence of wings discarded by reproductive termites after a mating flight. While they are attracted to moist or water-damaged wood, they will infest any home or structure that happens to be near their colony.
Another common sign of a termite infestation is the presence of damaged wood around the home that sounds hollow when tapped and may appear to have been eaten away along the grain pattern.
How do I get rid of Formosan termites?
Because they primarily move underground and out of sight, they can be incredibly difficult to control once they’re inside a structure, making prevention a necessity. However, if termites have already gotten inside, the only real option to get rid of them and prevent further damage to the structure is to bring a certified termite professional onboard to help.
